SFP just shipped another large custom piping set to GE with on-time delivery. The piping set is a large complex assembly consisting of forgings, rolled cylinders of several diameters, expanded pipe, branch tee connections and the tolerance requirements are extreme. GE places a high value on timely shipment and the record for Senior Flexonics Pathway is 100% on time shipment for these components.
SFP was chosen by a large Houston-based A&E firm as the primary expansion joint supplier on the Petrologistics Catofin project in Texas. The first delivery phase of project is ahead of schedule. The expansion joints for Catofin service are unique in many ways. The media is relatively clean but very high temperature. Movements are relatively large and the media velocity is extreme.
SFP has the world’s best On-Site service crew in the expansion joint business. The month a large On-Site crew installed clamshell bellows to repair leaking hardware at a Canadian Tar Sands location in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Pathway recently launched a major Lean initiative to serve its customers better. Training has started with the top ranks within the company and additional training and action is in the works. Initial lean actions include new cranes for more efficient handling the bellows department. New equipment has also been added to improve accuracy and tolerance control of formed parts. Watch for future updates about lean initiatives at SFP.
SFP recently completed installation of expansion joints on the larges FCC in the world at Reliance Refining in Jamnagar, India. The Jamnagar installation included expansion joints for the process standpipes, flue gas overhead lines, numerous hot wall expansion joints leading from the third stage separator to tandem power recovery turbines, low pressure flue gas expansion joints leading away from the power recovery turbine and fabric expansion joints for low pressure flue gas lines. The project was one of the largest contracts every handled by SFP. The schedule and the volume of work demanded that product be manufactured at multiple facilities including a Senior division plant in Canada and another division located in Brazil, an outsource facility in the UK and another in India. The bulk of the project was executed out of the SFP plant in New Braunfels, Texas. Tin spite of the complexity of the expansion joints and the logistics, the expansion joints were shipped within the demands of the schedule.
